Just a Quickie

Wow has time sure flown by this past year!! I can not believe that my last post was about christmas and new beginnings. Well like  I say every time I will try and do better but obviously not making promises here just cause life is so crazy. So much has happened I dont know about you but I dont know about how much blog there could be to describe the past 10 months. So I will just post pictures! Those are always good right. But I will just say whats new, i have 2 jobs I am a full time medical assistant in a pediatric office here in bountiful and I do hair once a week! I love both my jobs they are so fun and it keeps me busy which is good! But jake has been at a stand still when it comes to change he is still working as a physical therapy assistant and going to school full time! he is so dang busy it is crazy!! But that is how it is in our neck of the woods! Lets hope i can keep up with blogging from now on...  Here are the pictures.

The past month's festivities

Christmas Time and a New Year! 

I know this is a little late but better to be late and not post anything right! So this last year we spent Christmas with Jake's family which is always fun! they asked us if we would spend the night and do Christmas Eve with them that way we don't have to really get ready also that morning! It was way fun Jake gave the Christmas Eve lesson which was on the Christmas Orange one of my favorite stories and you cant forget the Nativity on Christmas Eve right! it was so great i always love hearing Jake give lessons and giving his testimony! He is such a role model to me! Christmas day was filled with fun festive things to do and lots of yummy food! Breakfast at the Matern's is always fun because Jake's mom is such a great cook! She makes the best food! That day we got to go see his grandparents and hang out with them and watch old movies it was so fun just to get to relax! That's always what i look forward to with Christmas is just spending time with family especially MY HUBBY! Gifts don't really matter to me i realize this way more now that i am married i am honestly just grateful that we both get the day off to spend with each other and our families! 

For New Years we made a quick trip to Idaho with Bre and Rob and surprised our family! It was so fun when met up with them at El Vaquero, the best Mexican restaurant ever! Jake and I were so excited, this is becoming a tradition to go at least once while we visit Idaho every time! Its Delicious, if your ever there in Blackfoot GO! anyways after we settled in we had lots of fun watching movies and playing games with the whole family! On New Years Eve day all the boys went to the church house to play some basketball and dodge ball, we met up with them a little later after i was done doing hair and mom and bre were done making all the yummy food! it was so fun, we played lots of different basketball games and my younger cousin who is 10 beat everyone he kept making all of his shots he was even beating Robbie and Jake it was kind of ridiculous how good he is! Then we played some friendly dodge ball ;) all in all it was a fun day after that we got to go home and clean up so we could eat all the tasty food my mom and sister made! Mom  tried out a new recipe, shrimp wrapped in bacon with pineapple! and for all you shrimp haters I'm not a huge fan of shrimp but this was the best thing i loved it! Mom did such a good job, i will be making this one day for something! after feeding our hungry bellies with all the yummy food we played more games and watch more movies until the ball was dropping! it was such a fun weekend even though it was a little different without my grandma and grandpa Brower there to enjoy the festivities with us but it was still a blast! hopefully when they are back from their mission we will get to enjoys tons of stuff with them! i cant wait to see them i miss them so much! 

It is always fun spending holidays with family i think there is no other way to spend it! we are so blessed that both families are so close to spend them with! its always fun being with them!  Hopefully the new year will bring much more fun memories to come i am so excited to see what adventures are coming our way! hopefully i will be better at keeping up with blogging! maybe that should be a new goal this year!

Windstorm weekend Madness

Imagine 102 mph winds coming at you! blowing away and knocking down almost everything! yup we went through this on Thursday! and Bountiful/Centerville area was the worst! i was woken up by the wind whistling at the windows. i looked out the balcony window and this is what i saw fences gone windows broken parking lot full of debris trees blown over! i couldn't believe this! I had only been through something similar in Idaho! and that was over 12 years ago! it was so sad to drive to work with trees knocked over on houses breaking fences, stop lights knocked off the poles people scrambling to board their own windows so they wouldn't blow in! it was crazy and the craziest thing to me was as i was driving right when i went through North Salt Lake to Salt Lake the wind died there it was a totally different thing! i was so shocked! its crazy how bad this storm hit northern Utah! there are so many people helping others trying to get yards cleaned up power back on! last night on the news it said 400 homes in bountiful still without power and 1000 in Kaysville without power! and there is another storm moving in tonight with the same strong east winds! I'm nervous to see what is going to happen, i hope most of the debris is all secured so it doesn't help destroy more things when the wind hits! i hope all the people without power still can keep warm and safe and hope we all stay safe! 

On a BRIGHTER note i finally got my tree up! On Saturday Jake and his brother were at our house so i thought why not have them help me move some things so i can put up our Christmas Decorations! i was so happy to put up the few we had i love Christmas time and everything that goes with it! everyone is always so happy and cheerful! i just love this time of year and i am so excited for all of the upcoming festivities!!!!

November Update

      The past few weeks have been crazy for us, it seems like there is so much going on! Here is an update on everything that has happened! On 11-11-11 Elise and I went to the opening of.. H&M! Yay!! we were there bright and early! thank goodness Elise was there before i was or else we would had to wait out in the cold for it to open.. it was a good time waiting for it to open, there we lots of music people dancing, giving aways gift cards and bags (we both got some so it was cool) but it was just fun to talk and hang out! H&M was awesome i love love love that store! so fun to find good deals!

     

     On November 14th it was our 2 year (that's right spell it! T-W-O!) anniversary! so we decided it would be fun to go to Park City again and just have a weekend getaway for the both of us! it was so nice not to have to worry about work or school! we just got to relax and have fun! we stayed at the Newpark hotel and resort it was so nice! we had a mini kitchen, great room and view and a balcony with a PRIVATE  HOT TUB!  it was so fun just to hang out and watch movies. we also went and walked around the outlet mall which is always fun we even found a little friend! Hunter! he is the cutest puppy, we wanted to take him home with us so bad! after we went to the outlets we went to The Historic Main Street, i love walking around there, they have the best shops! we also went out to eat while we were walking around to Bandits Grill and Bar! it was delicious, best old western food i have ever eaten. they bring all their food to you out on a skillet which is cool! Their Tri Tip steak NACHOS were amazing and their sandwiches were amazing also! i love trying out new places and finding places that i would like to go to again! park city was a blast even though it did snow like crazy while we were up there but i loved every minute i got to spend with the best hubby ever! love you jakey!

          For Thanksgiving we went up to Idaho to spend the week with my family! it was so much fun to get to go home and just relax and have fun! on Thanksgiving day we had a mini turkey bowl which ended up being just have fun and joking around with each other! towards the end of playing us girls decided to take a break from throwing the football to going back to what we really know what to do.. yes yes we cheered for our men! even shanny had her man there! so it was fun Breanna was determined to fly again so Shantay and i based her and put her up in a half! which is all we could do with no back! but it was fun, then Breanna and i threw up a 2 man stunt i haven't done one of those since high school i was so happy when i had Breanna up! i still got it! jk but i forgot how tough cheer is on our bodies so us oldies quit! =) After playing some football we went home to find the best dinner ever! this year it was just our family no extended family and it was so much fun! mom made the best food ever! my favorites is her candied yams and pretzel salad! i could eat those all day! Bre also made a yummy salad she called it the 70 dollar salad! I guess cause if you didn't have any of the ingredients to make it it would be 70 dollars! But it was good to just get to sit and eat yummy food while we all caught up! later that night we got prepared for Black Friday! it was crazy we just went to Walmart because i had to beg Jake to go with me! long story short Jake wasn't having it by the time it hit 10 pm and the first sale start it was pure madness. it was so hectic and crazy watching everyone scramble to get their stuff.. Jake was getting claustrophobic and i was worried about him, people kept hitting him with grocery carts, he finally said something to this lady like "at least apologize when you hit something", and that was the wrong thing to say! right after that she backfired at him, and there were some words being said so needless to say we left so it wouldn't happen again! so we got Cody and left the others with a car and we went home had some dessert and watched a movie! best way to spend the night while everyone else was rushing to get presents! (my dad laughed when he saw us walk in the house at 10:30) it was funny we only lasted half an hour in the madness!

       We were all sad when we had to all go home because we had so much fun with my family and didn't want to weekend to end and "go back to the real world" but it was fun, we will for sure have good memories to look back on!
